Grief

Understanding Grief

Did you know that you can grieve the loss of someone or something even if it doesn’t involve death. Grief and death are not exclusive to each other. Understanding what grief entails and how to deal with it will help you to move forward.

Grief Awareness
Grief awareness involves understanding the emotional journey individuals undergo after experiencing a significant loss. This could mean the end of a relationship, a major life change, an unexpected diagnosis, or death of a loved one.

The Five Stages
Stages of grief, introduced by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, is a widely recognized framework that helps in comprehending this process. The five most commonly recognized stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Having Empathy
It is important to note that grief is non-linear in nature.  It is also possible that not everyone will experience all these stages, nor do they occur in a set order. Grief is a deeply personal experience that requires empathy and patience.
