January is mental health awareness month. Mental health is a vital part of whole body health but is often overlooked or minimized in importance. Taking care of your mental health significantly affects your physical and emotional health.

It is crucial to take care of your mind as well as your body. To ignore one, while caring for the other, does not give balance to your health.

Take note of your emotional wellness. How do you feel? What things make you feel good? What can you do to foster those good feelings? Take charge of your emotional wellness to begin the journey to mindful well-being.

Create healthy habits to feed your mind and body.

  • Diet Seek out a plan for healthy eating.
  • Consult your physician Ask your doctor for help with your overall health and wellness. 
  • Rest Although exercise is good for you, so is sleep. Make a sleep schedule and try to stick with it.
  • De-Stress Do what works best for you whether it's meditation or relaxation.

Take care of your mental health. Your mind will thank you.
